  ABOUT OUR SERVANT LEADER - PASTOR DEXTER J. COMPTON, SR. 

   

• Native of Bunkie, Louisiana.  

• He’s a graduate of Southern University with a B.S. in Math Education and a Master’s of Music Performance in Jazz from the University of Louisiana @ Lafayette.

• Served as pastor the past 15 years at the First Union Baptist Church in Alexandria , LA and the past 8 years at Amazon Baptist Church in Bunkie, LA  where he grew up. He previously served as the Minister of Music at Amazon for 20 years and as Leader of the Deacon Ministry for 5 years.

• He has been employed by the Avoyelles Parish School System the past 27 years. As an elementary  principal, he had the district’s first year round school and as a high school principal gave the district their first “A” rated school for two consecutive years.

• He currently serves as a Supervisor of Instruction for the district.

• Pastor Compton has also authored a book entitled “Let’s Go Play - A Guide to God-Led Decision Making” and recorded with numerous artist as a musician.

• He currently resides in Bunkie with his wife of 20 years, Crisdensa and their three children: Christian (24), Dexter Jr. (16) and Dillon (15) 

• A man of few words and a humble spirit who proclaims “All that I am or ever hope to be,  I owe it all to thee."   "To God be the Glory"
